About Sunny Hill Pals
Welcome to Sunny Hill, a little village on top of a hill with colourful wooden houses, a red barn, a yellow school bus, a market, a park with a slide and a pond. It hardly changes, so little ones can recognise it every time.
Episodes cover numbers, colours, shapes, animals, feelings and everyday routines like brushing teeth and tidying up, with lots of repetition on purpose and a calm pace. Along the way, Grandpa Hoot teaches a few first words in Spanish.
Episodes are in American English with a few first words in Spanish, and English subtitles. Versions in Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, European Portuguese, German, French and Arabic are planned, with songs adapted to each language rather than translated word for word.
Episodes
Episode 1 · Coming soon
Five Little Ducks | Count to 5 with Tiko and Mia
Five little ducks come to swim at the pond, one by one. Count them up from one to five and back down as they swim home to Mama, meet a tiny frog with Rolo, and count in Spanish with Grandpa Hoot.
What to expect
Calm on purpose
A slow, steady camera, no fast cuts and no flashes. Nothing scary, nothing dangerous to copy, and no violence, not even the cartoon kind.
Repetition that works
Each number is said, shown big on screen and repeated together ("Count with me!"), with a pause for your child to answer.
First Spanish words
Short moments to learn a few words in Spanish: uno, dos, tres, hola, adiós.
Short episodes
Songs of 2 to 4 minutes and learning episodes of 5 to 8, one topic each. The first episode is under four minutes.
Made for kids on YouTube
The whole channel is set as made for kids: no comments, no personalised ads, no end screens and no requests to subscribe inside the videos.
Animal friends
The cast are animals, on purpose: little children love them, and they feel at home in every culture.
Meet the characters
Tiko
A little blue elephant, about four years old. Curious about everything and always asking questions, he is the star of Sunny Hill.
Mia
A yellow duckling full of energy who loves to sing and dance. She is Tiko's best friend.
Rolo
A little orange tiger who is very brave, except about very small things, like an ant or a popping balloon. He is the funny one, and he always finds his courage.
Grandpa Hoot
The wise old owl, with round glasses and a waistcoat. He teaches with endless patience and tells the best stories.
Questions and answers
What age is Sunny Hill Pals for?
Little ones aged 2 to 6, and the parents who choose what they watch.
Is it safe for toddlers?
That is the first rule. The camera is slow and steady, with no fast cuts or flashes. Nothing is scary, nobody does anything dangerous to copy, and there is no violence, not even cartoon violence. When Rolo gets a fright from a tiny frog, his friends calm him down straight away and he ends up waving hello.
What does my child learn in the first episode?
Counting from 1 to 5 and back from 5 to 1, recognising the numbers 1 to 5 (each in its own colour), and first Spanish words: uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco, hola and adiós.
Are there comments or ads?
The channel is set as made for kids, so YouTube turns off comments and personalised ads, and there are no end screens or requests to subscribe. The first episode has no ad breaks inside the video.
Why are there Spanish words?
Many families want their children to learn their first words in Spanish, so each episode has a short moment with colours, numbers or greetings in Spanish.
Do the characters sing?
In the first episode the counting is spoken in rhythm over the music rather than sung, one number on each beat. Sung songs will come later.
How often are new episodes added?
The plan is new episodes every week. The first one is ready and coming soon to the channel.
Who makes it, and is AI used?
Sunny Hill Pals is made by Erudite Octopus, a small creative studio. The voices come from open voice models that run on the studio's own computers, the music is synthesised by our own code and the characters and scenes are drawn by our own animation engine. AI also helps with the writing, but every episode is reviewed by a person before it goes out, and each language version is meant to be reviewed by a native speaker, ideally someone who works in early childhood education.
